- Description
- Women’s rights organisations (WROs) are organisations led by women working to advance gender equality and women’s rights. They vary in focus and scale but are informed and inspired by an understanding of the context in which women live, and what needs to change. They organise as women but recognise that women experience .many layers of inequality shaped by age, ability, ethnicity, race, HIV status, sexual orientation, religion and other social differences, and so have diverse needs and interests. A feminist analysis of how these inequalities intersect with gender inequality, and of the power structures which maintain women’s inequality to men, is at the core of WROs’ work.

- Description
- Compilation of articles which look at issues related to feminist analyses and their application in the study of religion. Part 1 develops themes related to feminist theorizing. Part 2 focuses on how these themes function when applied to the study of women in religion. Part 3 and 4 problematize feminist theories within the study of religion, drawing on notions of difference and the tendency of early feminism to negate geographical, political, economic and ethnic differences. Part 5 deals with the shift from modernist to post-structuralist and postmodern theories.
