- Description
- This publication tries to shed new light on a range of debates concerning questions of political space and time, and feminism's relationship to the state and to popular culture. The author draws on Arendtian and poststructuralist political theories to propose a novel understanding of the concept of 'radicalism' within feminist politics. Three case studies of contemporary British feminist groups are presented: ‘The Fawcett Society', ‘Women's Aid' and ‘The F-word website'.

- Description
- Taking Bernard Stiegler's concept of the 'already-there' as its starting point the author considers how the politics of transmission operates within digital culture. She argues that it is necessary to re-orient feminism's political project within what is already-there so that it may respond to an emergent feminist tradition.Grounded in the author's work collecting and interpreting the music-making heritage of the UK Women's Liberation Movement, she explores how digital technologies have enabled empassioned amateurs to make 'archives' within the first decade of the 21st century. She reflects on what is technically and politically at stake in the organization and transmission of digital artifacts, and what happens to feminist cultural heritage when circuits shut down, stall or become diverted.

- Description
- How can women’s rights be seen as a universal value rather than a Western value imposed upon the rest of the world? Addressing this question, the author offers a comparative study of writings by the English writer and feminist, Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797), and John Stuart Mill (1806-1873), English philosopher, and economist.
