- Description
- Collection of interviews with American jazz-singer Billie Holiday. Included is her last interview, given from her bed at New York's Metropolitan hospital, where she died in 1959. The book gives another side of Billie Holiday's life, than the troubles with addiction known in the media. In the conversations, Holiday reveals herself as somebody who has joy in her work and who discusses her childhood, musicians who influenced her and her friendships. Also she discusses how she dealt with racism and with harassment from government vice guards.
