- Description
- The author examines the blatant and more subtle forms of intragroup oppression in Jewish culture that foster the mistreatment of women. The Jewish law (halakhah) and Jewish religious/social practices are discussed from a feminist perspective, indicating the many ways in which certain interpretations of the law reflect a belief in the inferior status of women and sustain an environment conducive to woman-abuse.
