- Description
- This report considers the social and economic costs of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Pakistan. The results presented originate from the What Works to Prevent Violence: Economic and Social Costs project (2014-2019), funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). One of the findings is that 2.2% of employed women in Pakistan are not working as a consequence of VAWG. Besides, children of women experiencing intimate partner violence miss over two million school days annually. The results show the impact of VAWG on economic productivity and wellbeing in Pakistan and the need for more investment in prevention programmes.

- Description
- Synthesis report of the results by the ENERGIA Gender and Energy Research Programme, as part of its contribution to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The 2014-2019 study explores gender, energy and poverty linkages in twelve countries in six thematic areas, including productive uses of energy, the political economy of energy sector policies and women’s energy entrepreneurship. Results show that energy policies that do not explicitly target women, often result in inequal access to energy services between men and women. Achieving gender equality outcomes requires a change in energy policy as well as in processes and organisations that drive these processes.

- Description
- 'This report aims to assess the impact of this crisis on the situation of women and men in Europe and on gender equality policies. This is important as economic crises are deeply gendered. Past experience cannot provide sufficient insight into the gender impact of this crisis as the position of women has changed considerably since the last major recession. This crisis offers opportunities for radical change, including a potential to advance equality for women and men. However, the crisis also poses challenges where gender equality may be seen as an issue only for the good times.'

- Description
- The COVID-19 pandemic unfolds in a world already experiencing a hunger crisis. The effects of the pandemic show the existing flaws in food systems. Most of them stem from gender inequalities and unfair treatment of women and girls, who are the majority of food producers and food providers for their households. However, their contributions are frequently unseen. Despite their bariers, women and girls already take initiative to meet COVID-19-related challenges. This CARE analysis provides global policy recommendations, argueing that involving women and girls is good for food systems as well as for pandemic responses generally.

- Description
- Discussion note on the effects of gender-responsive fiscal policies on women’s labor participation in the last three decades. It also explores how these policies affect gender wage gaps, economic growth, income inequality and poverty in both advanced economies and low-income countries. For advanced economies, it focuses on for example reducing the cost of childcare and providing publicly financed maternity leave. For low-income countries, the note considers the impact of investing in education, providing cash transfers to poor women in the labor force and investing in infrastructure. Results show that gender-responsive fiscal policies can support female labor force participation and have important macroeconomic effects.

- Description
- The Gender Equality Index is a tool to measure the progress of gender equality in the EU, developed by EIGE. It gives more visibility to areas that need improvement and ultimately supports policy makers to design more effective gender equality measures.
The Gender Equality Index has tracked the painfully slow progress of gender equality in the EU since 2010, mostly due to advances in decision-making. While equality is more pronounced in some Member States than in others, it is far from a reality for everyone in every area. Gender norms around care, gender segregation in education and the labour market, and gender inequalities in pay remain pertinent.
The Index allows Member States to easily monitor and compare gender equality progress across various groups of women and men in the EU over time and to understand where improvements are most needed. The 2022 Index has a thematic focus on care in the pandemic. It explores the division of informal childcare, long-term care and housework between women and men.
