- Description
- Collection of engravings, etchings, woodcuts and lithographs executed by female printmakers, exhibited from October 2nd, 2015 - May 27th, 2016, The New York Public Library. From 1848 until 1861, Henrietta Louisa Koenen (1830-1881, wife of the first director of the Rijksmuseum Print Room in Amsterdam), collected an array of sheets by women artists of the sixteenth to the nineteenth century. The works from Koenen’s collection include not only artists like Angelica Kauffman (1741-1807) and Maria Cosway (1760-1838), but also prints by the Madame de Pompadour (1721-1764), Charlotte Bonaparte (1802-1839), Queen Victoria (1819-1901), and Anna Maria van Schurman (1607-1678).
