- Description
- Selection of the work of Annie Leibovitz (1949) from 1990 to 2005, with portraits of well-known figures, like Johnny Cash, Nicole Kidman, Mikhael Baryshnikov, Bill Clinton, Demi Moore, Keith Richards, Michael Jordan, Joan Didion, R2-D2, Patti Smith, Nelson Mandela, Jack Nicholson, William Burroughs, Agnes Martin, George W. Bush, and pictures of Leibovitz's family and friends, reportage from the siege of Sarajevo in the early nineties, and landscapes. Over 300 photographs are accompanied by an essay by Leibovitz that discusses the circumstances under which the work was made, both technically and logistically, and her relationships with and thoughts about many of the subjects. The book was accompanying an exhibition of the same title, from October 20, 2006 through January 21, 2007, organized by the Brooklyn Museum.
