- Description
- Studying American Jewish feminism from the 1960s and '70s, Jewish feminists examines how second-wave feminist activists retrospectively construct their identities as Jews and how these constructions have changed throughout their lives. The author argues that these Jewish feminists experience a sense of ambivalence as both feminists and Jews as they ask how being Jewish makes them different from other feminists. Drawing from interviews with more than 24 second-wave feminist Jews, of which five are men, the author describes how these identities sometimes coincide or contrast.

The third panel of the Ingeborg, Tamara & Yonina Rennert Women in Judaism Forum, 'Changing Judaism,' addressed how feminists have sought to reshape Jewish theology and religious practice. - Description
- This book addresses the veiled role of Jewishness in the understanding of feminist (visual) art in the United States. Lisa Bloom situates the art practices of Jewish feminist artists from the 1970s to the present, from New York City to southern California, in relation to wider cultural and historical issues behind the reticence on the topic of Jewish identities in the visual arts. The artists studied in this book include Eleanor Antin, Judy Chicago, Deborah Kass, Rhonda Lieberman, and Martha Rosler, amongst many others.

- Appropriately Subversive offers insights from the stories of mothers who live within and value traditional religious beliefs, yet question the price of conformity, exploring how the tension between 'the committed self' and 'the resisting self' affects their choices in raising their daughters. In interviews with orthodox Jewish and Catholic women, vastly different religious practices are shown, but remarkably similar psychic dramas.
