This report assesses potential consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak on women and on gender equality in Europe. It describes the risks of the crisis, including increasing care work for women, domestic violence against women and unequal representation of men and women in decision-making processes. Besides these negative effects, the COVID-19 crisis also created some new opportunities for a more .gender-neutral distribution of work. For example, teleworking men who share unpaid work with their partners. The authors conclude with policy recommendations to minimize the damages and realize potential benefits of the crisis on the equality between men and women in Europe.
