- 'The second Global Report on discrimination under the follow-up to the ILO Declaration on Fundamental .Principles and Rights at Work examines emerging issues in patterns of workplace discrimination and inequalities and recent policy responses, and outlines the ILO’s experience and achievements to date and the challenges it faces. It points to the need for better enforcement of legislation against discrimination, as well as non-regulatory initiatives by governments and enterprises, and equipping the social partners to be more effective in .making equality a reality at the workplace. - Description
- The first section of this book examines definitions of violence against women. It discusses responses to violence that are based on human rights approaches, and asks why - until recently - development organisations have failed to use strategies to counter violence against women and to support the victims. The second section focuses on possible strategies for governments and NGO's. Case studies drawn from over 30 countries worldwide, from times of peace and armed conflict, illustrate the possibilities and pitfalls of different strategies and interventions.

- Description
- 'This report presents research findings and analysis gathered over the last two years to help women’s rights .organizations and their funder allies make sense of the rapidly changing funding landscape and adapt their .resource mobilization (and distribution) strategies accordingly. .Three major trends impacting significantly on the funding landscape for women’s organizations have emerged in the last few years that require our attention and analysis: 1. The presence of “women and girls” as a priority—at least a rhetorical one— in nearly every funding sector and in the mainstream: .2. The upsurge of a diverse array of private sector actors in development financing and philanthropy: and .3. corporatization and specifically, its impact on development agendas and financing.'

- Description
- Sex discrimination persists in nationality and citizenship laws in over 50 countries around the world, continuing to trap women and their families in a web of sexist nationality laws. Too many governments have simply decided that women should have fewer rights than men to pass on their citizenships to their children or their foreign spouse, or to acquire, change or keep their nationalities.

- Description
- 'This report looks at how gender equality can be promoted and how to get power where it belongs – in the hands of every last girl. .It explores three key barriers that hold girls back: .• child marriage .• poor access to good-quality services – including health and education .• girls’ lack of a voice in private and public spheres. .These three barriers are violations of girls’ rights. They also pose formidable obstacles to progress in other areas of development. .In addition, it sheds light on levels of gender discrimination around the world, and highlights the countries where girls’ rights are most at risk. .It also identifies three specific guarantees will help governments reach the girls who are furthest behind – such as those who live in fragile and conflict-affected states, those who are on the move as refugees, those in the poorest countries and in disadvantaged regions, and those who face multiple forms of discrimination.'

- 'The Gender Review discusses global and regional trends in achieving parity in education access, participation and completion and in selected learning outcomes, stressing that there is much room for progress. It then shifts to an evidence-based discussion of relationships between education, gender and sustainable development by discussing work, civic and political engagement and leadership, as well as health and well-being. It concludes with ways forward: what action is implied by evidence and data for achieving more gender-equal societies and how progress towards such societies is to be measured.'

- To fight poverty and environmental degradation and to respect human rights and women's rights at major UN conferences of the nineties governments committed themselves. Sustainability without qualified participation of women will not work was the message of the Rio Janeiro Agenda in 1992. At the 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing a dual track strategy to this end: empowerment on the one hand and gender mainstreaming, the systematic integration of a gender perspective in all institutions and policy areas, on the other was identified. The unpaid care work of women and the precautionary principle are systematically taken as points of reference in the argumentative discourse.
