This book discusses recent developments in these areas in chapters which each include key findings and policy recommendations. Topics include violence against women, gender budgeting, the unequal sharing of unpaid work, labour market outcomes and migration. The book presents a range of indicators illustrating gender gaps. It also discusses recent policy initiatives, such as pay transparency measures to reduce gender wage gaps and policy reform aimed at fathers taking parental leave.

- Description
- The main question of this thesis is to determine wheter the current framework of equality legislation applicable to self-employed women provides adequate protection, and if not, which lacuna can be discerned. A parallel is drawn between the procection of the self-employed and the employed. The focus is mainly on the financial consequences of the lack of protection of the directives, exemplified in the lack of availability in start-up finance, pregnancy-related benefits and social security.
