- kinderloosheid, moederschap, kinderkeuze, Nederland, 2010-2019, 21e eeuw, onderzoek
- Description
- 'The purpose of Kinderloosheid: (In)voluntarily Childless Women in Dutch Society was to examine how Dutch women, particularly those without children interact with norms of motherhood in the Netherlands. I conducted five interviews, two with voluntarily childless women and three with involuntarily childless women. From the information gathered through these conversations, which ranged in topic from early family life to current relationships to experiences of childlessness, I grouped together major trends and came to several conclusions. First, that childlessness violates a strong Dutch social norm, causing various effects of social exclusion. Second, that women deal with their childlessness in several primarily social coping behaviors. Finally, that the motivations behind wanting or not wanting to have children are also social in nature. This research would provide backing for support group structures and for activism in support of spreading awareness about childlessness.'

- Description
- 'Author aims to bring Chinese women’s voices and gender in Chinese women’s daily experiences into the centre. This research aims to offer an alternative example for Dutch migration studies by making sense of migrant people’s reception by the host country by conducting interviews and participant observation. In short, this research is part of an ongoing Chinese migration history in the Netherlands on the one hand: and on the other hand, it breaks with that tradition to present Dutch Chinese migration studies from a gendered, transnational, grass-roots and critical Chineseness perspective. In sum, this research speaks from the margin to the centre, from minority to majority, with feminist and intersectional perspectives.'
