- Description
- This manual provides a set of methods, tools and skills for advocates concerned with LGBT human rights. It focuses on how and where LGBT human rights advocates in the domestic setting can use international and regional human rights instruments to frame their arguments and achieve their objectives. The manual applies a sixstep model. Step 1 describes a number of fundamental human rights concepts. Step 2 looks at how to identify and analyse the concrete advocacy issues. Step 3 looks at ways of mapping and identifying stakeholders and how and where to find targets who can affect the issue. Step 4 focuses on taking action and creating an action plan. Step 5 presents methods and skills advocates might use: lobbying, public awareness and media. The final step addresses the evaluation of the advocacy work using the sixstep method.
