- Description
- Women in a changing world recounts the evolution, pioneer efforts and achievements of the International Council of Women and of its affiliated National councils in the cause of peace, of human rights, of educational opportunity and cultural interchange throughout three major periods of world history: 1888-1913, 1914-1938 and 1939-1963. Brief biographical sketches recall the careers of its distinguished presidents, and a short account is given of the development of collaboration between the ICW and intergovernmental institutions from the First International Peace Conference at The Hague in 1899, through the League of Nations, tot the United Nations and its Specialized Agencies. Among others, the International Archives for the Women's Movement (IAV), (IIAV), is mentioned as caretakers of documents related to the International Council of Women.
