This edition of the Global Slavery Index report provides a ranking of 162 countries around the world, based on a combined measure of three factors: estimated prevalence of modern slavery by population, a measure of child marriage, and a measure of human trafficking in and out of a country. The report identifies factors relevant to risk of slavery and provides a standardised measure of these factors that allows comparison country by country. It further examines the strength of government responses to modern slavery for the 20 countries at the top and bottom of the Index ranking
The global slavery index provides an analysis of the prevalence of modern slavery in terms of the percentage of a national population and the total number of people living in modern slavery – country by country, region by region. The Index includes an analysis of what governments are doing to eradicate modern slavery and it also looks at the contextual factors that make people vulnerable to modern slavery.
