'By the close of this century, our planet will be home to some 11.2 billion people, which is a 50% increase compared to today. This growth will take place disproportionately: the population in developed countries, including the Netherlands, will be declining while in the least developed countries the population may even quadruple. Some of the most important drivers of rapid population growth are: high fertility rates, early pregnancy and higher life expectancy. .This paper aims to examine population dynamics, its consequences and drivers and specifically the link to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The paper is divided into four sections. Section 1 provides an overview of population dynamics and its consequences at macro level. The second section focuses on micro-level drivers, and specifically the link between population dynamics and SRHR. With a presentation of a historic overview of population programmes in Section 3, and end the paper with an exploration of future programmes.'
