- Description
- 'Designing for diversity' focuses on the experiences of underrepresented architects, especially women and persons of color, and how they compare to those of their white male counterparts. To a lesser extent, it examines the experiences of architects who are gay or lesbian. The book suggests strategies to reform and further diversify the architectural profession. Some attention is given to the effects of diversity in the profession on the built environment. The research in the book is based on archival data from professional organizations for architects, and on interviews with fifty-eight women architects and architects of color, conducted over a ten-year period, approximately 1990-2000.
