- Description
- Tine Tammes (1871-1947) became the second woman to become a professor in the Netherlands. She became the first person in the Netherlands to occupy a chair in genetics. Author first discusses Tammes' life and career, focusing on the factors that influenced her career either negatively or positively and paying special attention to the period leading up to her appointment as a professor. Then author analyses the content of her work on the multiple-factor hypothesis and compares it with the contributions to the same subject by her contemporaries. Author concludes with a discussion.
