- Description
- In the beginning early museums in the Middle East and North Africa attracted mainly a male audience, because the collections consisted of objects representative of male craftsmanship and significance. In the mid-twentieth century more objects made by and for women were displayed. More women began to work in museums. These women can use their position to influence change through participation in international museum organizations and reevaluate their local museum programmes to readdress the image and level of participation of women. They can promote women's issues through creating cooperative liaisons with existing women's organizations.
