Description provided by the artist: .'The role of the arts in bringing up political issue and render it tangible for the bigger public is paramount. .The object I am presenting is visualizing a revisitiation of the United Nations logo. The claiming of universal rights is one of the practice of equality that I have traced in the work of Syrian artists and'activists both in the homeland as well as in the diaspora. .The comic I am submitting is by Hossam al-Saadi a cartoonist and political refugee who I met in Brussels in 2016. I chosed it because it gives immediate and direct image of one the claim of equality of Syrians (the children and women portayed are from the begised town of Al-Ghouta) in front of the international legal system epitomized by the UN.'. .This artwork is part of the project Footnotes on Equality: http://footnotesonequality.eu/all/
