The four parts of the volume - cross-cultural, intercultural, international, and development communication - illustrate how this field of study is composed and how it has grown. Each part begins with a chapter on theories and closes with one on issues. The remaining chapters in each part examine the distinct and broadly recognized topics of research within each area. The editors open the volume eith an overview of historical perspectives on international and intercultural communication.
