- Description
- Synthesis report of the results by the ENERGIA Gender and Energy Research Programme, as part of its contribution to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The 2014-2019 study explores gender, energy and poverty linkages in twelve countries in six thematic areas, including productive uses of energy, the political economy of energy sector policies and women’s energy entrepreneurship. Results show that energy policies that do not explicitly target women, often result in inequal access to energy services between men and women. Achieving gender equality outcomes requires a change in energy policy as well as in processes and organisations that drive these processes.

- Description
- 'Child marriage is a main contributing factor to adolescent pregnancy. Nine out of ten births to girls aged 15-19 occur within marriage. Just as these girls often have no say about whether, when, and whom they will marry, they also likely have no say about whether and when to begin childbearing. .In response to this situation, UNFPA has made girls’ rights and the prevention of adolescent pregnancy a signature issue in its policy and programming efforts, so that each girl will grow up unencumbered by gender inequality and discrimination, and free to choose the path to a healthy, empowered life.'
