- The contributors use postcolonial theory to examine the implications of race, class and gender relations for the structuring of world politics. The volume further explores postcolonial themes, such as the politiics of respresentation, global capital and power, resistance and agency, and applies them to the study of global power asymmetries. Among others the issues discussed by the contributors are: the global trade in sex and domestic workers, ethnicity, identity and nationalism in postcolonial Guyana, childlabour, human rights discourse and the Indian carpet trade, postcolonial Burma and liberal human riths discourse.
