- Description
- This 40th yearbook volume discusses how both experienced and young academics operationalize concepts in gender research practices and what it means for them to 'do' gender history in 2021. With contributions of among others Geertje Mak, Halleh Ghorashi, Francisca de Haan, Berteke Waaldijk, Garjan Sterk, Saskia Bonjour and Annemarie Mol, the book shows how certain concepts such as body, intimacy, migration, intersectionality and masculinity travel within academic culture across the Low countries and find a home in individual research practices.

- Description
- This book explores the complex processes of gendering institutions and the interaction between formal and informal institutions in different African countries. Previous studies focused often on women's political representation and women's individual capacities, while the role of formal and informal institutions gained less attention, especially in an African context. The book analyzes which institutions are influencing women's political representation, the disproportionate representation on the African continent and the role of institutions in explaining this uneven development.

- Description
- This collection of essays examines the partners' lives and experiences associated with nine different political thinkers. It explores the gendered patterns of intellectual labor that flow through the foundations of Western political thought. The book represents three historical eras of political thought (ancient, early modern and modern era). In nine chapters it explores the everyday activities of intellectual labor and partnership involving: Xanthippe (Socrates), Pythias and Herpyllis (Aristotle), Barbera Salutati (Machiavelli), Thérèse Levasseur (Rousseau), Mary and Betty Clarke and Lady Damaris Masham (Locke), Jeanne de Lartigue (De Montesquieu), Mary Mottley (De Tocqueville), Harriet Taylor Mill (Stuart Mill) and Jenny Marx, Helene Demuth, Mary and Lydia Burns (Marx and Engels). These stories reveal these women labored in remarkable ways, but remained in the shadow of the history of political thought.
