Description provided by the artist: .This object is the photo that I took of a google form I received for the registration of an .event in the Netherlands for PhD students (all PhD students, not the ones working on .religion, in very broad terms it was a secular event) organized by an institution I will not .name here. The form is not online anymore and this photo is the only photo I have of it.. .The object is extremely related to my research on Islam in Europe as in one my chapters I discuss how Islam is seen exterior to Europe and European imagination. Here, for a secular event organized in the Netherlands where there is almost 1 million Muslims, the possibility of the existence of Muslims is completely ignored in the dietary preferences section of the form. It is of course very important that the form acknowledges Jewish dietary preferences along with others but the point I would like to stress is that the lack of any halal option to a great extend shows how foreign and other Islam is seen in this context, although it is the second biggest religion in Europe and the Netherlands.. .This artwork is part of the project Footnotes on Equality: http://footnotesonequality.eu/all/
