- Description
- 'This research focuses on heterosexual Dutch male attitudes towards the sex industry. The purpose was to explore how their cultural environment may provide a different script for sexuality development and therefore different opinions on legalization or criminalization of prostitution. The goal was to answer the question of whether or not Dutch males, compared to men interviewed in previous research, developed a different attitude towards sex work and sex workers within the context of legal prostitution and more comprehensive sex education, both of which aid in creating a cultural script that impacts sexuality development. Four Dutch males were interviewed along with one former sex worker. In the analysis, the results were compared to prior research to determine commonalities and differences. Conclusions illustrated an increase in support for legal prostitution, different reasons for utilizing services, a recognition of buying sex services as more common and less associated with criminal activity.'
