- Description
- Description of the history of women’s teaching experiences at Harvard Law School, as told through the stories of female faculty members and visiting professors. Recurring themes in their stories are: pressure to prove themselves as one of a very few female students in their law school class: discrimination in the application process for clerkships and law firm jobs: harsh scrutiny of their scholarship and teaching by male faculty: struggles in the tenure process: a lack of nurturing, which would have aided them in discovering their full potential as teachers: and difficulties in balancing work pressures with family commitments.

- Description
- In this publication, the author examines the lives and work of four well-known women - evangelical marriage advice author Marabel Morgan, singer and anti-gay-rights activist Anita Bryant, author and political lobbyist Beverly LaHaye, and televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. The book explores their impact on the rise of the New Christian Right and on the development of the evangelical subculture. Then she highlights the ongoing significance of this history through an analysis of Sarah Palin's vice presidential candidacy in 2008 and Michele Bachmann's presidential bid in 2012.

- Description

- Description
- This volume surveys the role women have played in various types of business as owners, co-owners and decision-making managers in European and North American societies since the sixteenth century. Drawing on scholarship, it identifies the economic, social, legal and cultural factors that have facilitated or restricted women's participation in business. It pays particular attention to the ways in which gender norms, and their evolution, shaped not only those women's experience of business, but the ways they were perceived by contemporaries, documented in sources and, partly as a consequence, viewed by historians.

- Description
- Economic recessions and periods of growth are manifestations of change which have a direct effect on the experience of employees, households and work organizations. The authors examine these trends which generate pressure towards a reshaping of social institutions in three ways: changes in the organizsation of production, particularly those associated with the growth of service dominated economies: the effects of technological change, particularly those associated with ICT: and the erosion of the 'male breadwinner' (or single earner) model of employment and household.
