- Description
- 'In her book Lean In, author Sheryl Sandberg made the argument that the feminist revolution was stalled and that women needed to simply lean in to get it moving again. The Impostor Phenomenon (IP) asserts that many successful people feel like frauds that will be discovered in time. Twenty-nine women in leadership were interviewed in this qualitative study, and it was discovered that the majority of them do not have impostor feelings. Their confidence can be attributed to strong relationships with mentors, romantic partners, and other women in leadership.'

- 'Author discusses the antecedents and consequences of identification with feminism. First she defines what a feminist actually is. .More technically, the Oxford dictionary says that a feminist is “A person who supports feminism”, and feminism means “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities”. There are many definitions of feminism and individuals often define feminism differently. .There are many branches of feminism. Men and women should not be treated as if they are the same because that maintains inequality. Hence, radical feminists challenge social norms and existing social institutions. Other subgroups of feminists call themselves socialist feminists, liberal feminists, lesbian feminists, or Black feminists. Despite their many differences, what all of these branches of feminists have in common is that they are willing to label themselves as a feminist. .Interestingly, some people believe that men and women should be equal, but do not identify as a feminist. Others believe in gender equality based on individual values and self-determination, and therefore call themselves neo-liberals, or egalitarians. .Some people argue that there is more to being a feminist than merely believing that men and women should be equal. For example, being a woman is sometimes seen as a requirement for being a feminist, as is being an activist and actively striving for equal rights. In fact, according to one feminist identity, active engagement in collective action is the final stage of developing a feminist. To conclude, feminism (or feminist) is a multifaceted concept and there is not one definition. In all definitions though there is one corresponding aspect and that is that feminism is about the equality of the sexes.'

- Description
- This book addresses the transformation of the exotic dance industry, focusing on the ways that corporate chains have changed both the performance and reception of striptease. The author, drawing on her own experience as an exotic dancer, examines the ways that striptease embodies conflicting notions of race, class, and female sexuality, and how the exotic dance industry deploys these differences to codify and commodify our erotic imagination. With case studies.

- Description
- Young viewers encounter content in the media that they are not able to distinguish from reality are not confined to sexually explicit internet material. That’s the same case with less explicit, but nonetheless unrealistic, sexual content in more mainstream media such as music videos. For example, in a highly publicized case, rap and hiphop culture and its sexually stereotypical music videos in particular, were said to have inspired 13-year old teenagers to engage in sexual assault. That's why politicians and other critical voices from society requested that young people are taught to put sexual media content in perspective. To know whether such requests are warranted and how they can be addressed, however, we first need to understand whether and how sexual media content affects young people, which young people are affected most and which are not. This dissertation aims to contribute to this understanding.

- Description

- Description
- 'This dissertation will analyze representations of Afghan women wearing a burqa and the specific ways in which such images are constructed. I will focus on specific representations that were originally created in the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and the United States. These representations range from media discourses to visual arts and political discourses but they constitute two sets of interventions. In the first part of the dissertation, I focus on representations of the burqa worn by women in Afghanistan (over there, where the archetype sees them as oppressed by their culture), and in the second part of the dissertation, I turn to images that represent the burqa in our midst, within “our” Western world. And this time, the woman is represented as a threat as well as a victim.'
