The author locates one source of morality in maternal instinct and discusses gender differences form an evolutionary perspective. Attention is paid to undervaluation of traits traditionally associated with women and especially to questions of aggression and nonviolence. She argues that women have stronger tendencies towards peacemaking and nurturance and that these should be valued and learned also by men. Topics of war and violence, religion, spirituality and care ethics versus virtue ethics are discussed as well as questions of relations, autonomy and emotions.
