- Description
- The COVID-19 pandemic unfolds in a world already experiencing a hunger crisis. The effects of the pandemic show the existing flaws in food systems. Most of them stem from gender inequalities and unfair treatment of women and girls, who are the majority of food producers and food providers for their households. However, their contributions are frequently unseen. Despite their bariers, women and girls already take initiative to meet COVID-19-related challenges. This CARE analysis provides global policy recommendations, argueing that involving women and girls is good for food systems as well as for pandemic responses generally.
