Biography of Isabelle Eberhardt (1877-1904). Born in Switzerland as a illegitimate child of German and Russian parents, she published short stories under a male pseudonym. She became interested in North Africa. In 1897 she moved to Algeria, she dressed as a man and converted to Islam, eventually adopting the name Si Mahmoud Saadi.
