This anthology offers representations of a range of different kinds of women's magazines and includes examples of the kind of materials (like covers and advertisements) which are often hard to find. The authors want to give the readers an idea of what these magazines were like and want to offer ways of making sense of a vast and relatively unharted field of enquiry. The focus is on the period when Victoria was on the British throne: 1837 to 1901.
