- Description
- This book focuses on the connections between disability, antiblack racism and slavery in the British Carribbean from the start of colonization in the sixteenth century to the abolition of slave trade in 1807. The author states that Africans were imagined by English as deformed beings before they became involved in the African slave trade. She describes the physical, emotional and psychological impairments imposed by enslavement and looks at slave law as a system of enforced disablement.
