- Description
- Paper is exploring structural elements for the absence of mechanisms for the promotion of gender equality in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland: (1) the phenomenon of aversion to feminism, (2) the prevailing anti-state and anti-institutionalist attitude, and (3) the liberal democratic legitimization which supports the way of institution building and legislation that create new gender differences and discriminate against women in political and social areas. The first part of the paper concentrates upon political institutions, legitimizing ideologies and political agenda, the second part attempts to point out the paradoxical split between the phenomenon of widespread gender ideologies and the actual realistic position of women.
