Comparative study of two German-Jewish women poets who survived the Nazi genocide. It contains a reading of Sachs's (1891-1970) and Ausländer's (1901-1988) poetry in the context of the wider scope of 'Holocaust literature.' In addition to aesthetic considerations, the study concentrates on the implications of Sachs's and Ausländer's poetic engagement for an 'ethics of remembrance'.
