Internal affairs necessary for functioning of FENN will be
announced in this section.
From the board: Membership fees 1997
We would like to remind you to renew your
membership to FENN for 1997. Membership fees
amount to DFL 50,- a year (DFL 40,- for `AIOs'
and DFL 30,- for students and low budgets). As a
member of FENN you are entitled to participate
(freely or at reduced costs) in all our activities.
You will receive our newsletter FENN-Mail free of
charge. It is also possible to include your name
only on our mailinglist and to receive just the
information related to our activities. In this case,
the costs amount to DFL 20,- a year.
Giro account FENN: 72.33.058, made payable to
FENN, in Gouda.
We do not send out any acceptgiro's since we have
to pay f 200,- for them, which amounts to 10% of
our income from memberships. As soon as
membership revenues will be high enough, so that
the costs of acceptgiro's will reach only 5% of the
revenue we will start using these acceptgiro's. We
know that most of you would appreciate that!
FENN archives
During the past two years, we have been collecting
quite some written material discussing the subject
of feminist economics and related issues. The
secretariat of FENN has archived this material and
made a complete list of it all. For members of
FENN who are interested in one/more of these
listed sources, it is possible to receive copies at cost
price plus mailing costs. See list enclosed in this
newsletter. For more information, please contact:

Als voorzitter van het bestuur van FENN is mij de
eer te beurt gevallen deze nieuwe rubriek de spits
af te breken en mijzelf te introduceren als lid van
dit netwerk voor feministische economie in
Nederland. Ik ben 37, woon in Amsterdam en ben
AIO geweest bij de Leerstoel Vergelijkende
Bevolkings- en Emancipatie Economie. Prof. Siv
S. Gustafsson (FEE, UvA) en Prof. Teresa
Brennan (New School of Social Research, New
York) zijn mijn promotores en dr. Geert A. Reuten
(FEE, UvA) is mijn begeleider. Ik ben lid van het
bestuur van de International Association for
Feminist Economics (IAFFE), Associate Editor
van Feminist Economics, en secretaris van de
Stichting Out of the Margin (organisator van de
Out of the Margin conferenties). Op het ogenblik
ik bezig met de afronding van mijn proefschrift.
Dit proefschrift heeft als werktitel "Economists
and 'femininity'. Rereading economic texts from a
feminist perspective." Ik ontwikkel hierin een
feministische manier van lezen van economische
teksten en denk daarmee te kunnen aangeven dat
economische teksten doordrengt zijn van
opvattingen over gender en dat deze opvattingen
ook voor een deel de inhoud van het economische
denken hebben beinvloed, zoniet bepaald hebben
(en dat nog steeds doen). Naast mijn
promotie-onderzoek heb ik ook veel tijd besteed
aan het organiseren van het vakgebied
feministische economie of emancipatie economie,
zoals dit gebied voorheen heette. Dit omdat je in
mijn visie, niet kunt leven van een proefschrift
alleen, maar ook een netwerk van collega's nodig
hebt. Dit laatste geldt met name voor een
kwetsbaar jong vakgebied als dat van feministische
economie. Samen met Jolande Sap en vele anderen
heb ik meegewerkt aan het organiseren van de
conferentie "Out of the Margin. Feminist
perspectives on economic theory" (1993). Samen
met Susan Feiner, Notburga Ott en Zafiris
Tzannatos hebben Jolande en ik vervolgens een
bundel samengesteld met papers van de
conferentie. Dat is een mooi boek geworden met
diverse en originele bijdragen van een
internationaal gezelschap economen, waaronder
Julie Nelson, Siv Gustafsson, Diane Elson, Bina
