This report documents how while men and boys, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, .are targets of sexual violence in the Syrian conflict, gay and bisexual men and transgender women said they were subjected to increased and intensified violence based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. This violence takes place in various settings, including Syrian detention centers, checkpoints, prisons, and within the ranks of the Syrian army. In Lebanon, survivors found limited services and inadequate support from humanitarian organizations—often due to lack of funding and .personnel trained to respond their needs.

Dit boek is samengesteld In het kader van het project 'Menstruele hygiëne voor meisjes en vrouwen in ontwikkelingslanden' om het praten over seksualiteit, inclusief menstruatie en menstruele hygiëne te vergemakkelijken. De uitdrukkingen zijn gerangschikt naar categorie. Elke categorie bevat een lijst met de uitdrukking in de oorspronkelijke taal, de Nederlandse en Engelse vertaling, en of de uitdrukking ook in andere talen wordt gebruikt. Geïllustreerd met afbeeldingen van kunstwerken waarin kunstenaars de eufemismen hebben uitgebeeld.

Publication with an overview of expressions for menstruation worldwide, often still a taboo and difficult to discuss publicly. The euphemisms women use hide a lot, but also tell about traditions, customs, dealing with sexuality and the challenges and consequences that menstruation poses for women. This book has been compiled as part of the project 'Menstrual Hygiene for Girls and Women in Developing Countries' to facilitate discussion about sexuality, including menstruation and menstrual hygiene. The expressions are arranged by category. Each category contains a list of the expression in its original language, the Dutch and English translation, and whether the expression is also used in other languages. Illustrated with images of works of art in which artists have depicted the euphemisms.
