SamenvattingThis quilt served as the centerpiece for the 24th Triennial Conference of University Women held at Stanford College in 1992. Every country that belonged to IFUW in 1992 is represented by a block. The quilt is symbolic of the many diverse cultures coming together into one unified whole, working together to improve the status of women throughout the world. The center block represents the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The quilt is quite colorful with many of the blocks depicting women in native dress with beautiful embroidery and three-dimensional work to add detail. Many of the blocks use the country's flag or land shape as the starting point. Unique to these blocks is the use of fabrics and themes from the featured countries. The blocks themselves were made by AAUW branches in the US who had sister relationships with the nations depicted.
