SamenvattingIn this book Cornell develops a view of equality that provides a new perspective on the relationship of sexual difference to equality and of equality to freedom in the issues of abortion, pornography, and sexual harassment. This view of equality entails the equal protection of certain minimum conditions of individuation. The three conditions are as follows: 1) bodily integrity, 2) acces to symbolic forms sufficient to achieve linguistic skills permitting the differentiation of oneself from others, and 3) the protection of the imaginary domain itself. The detailed elaboration and defense of these conditions takes place within the chapters of the book.
