- Samenvatting
- This report documents how while men and boys, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, .are targets of sexual violence in the Syrian conflict, gay and bisexual men and transgender women said they were subjected to increased and intensified violence based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. This violence takes place in various settings, including Syrian detention centers, checkpoints, prisons, and within the ranks of the Syrian army. In Lebanon, survivors found limited services and inadequate support from humanitarian organizations—often due to lack of funding and .personnel trained to respond their needs.

- Samenvatting
- This article focuses on an overview of sexual harassment in Bangladesh followed by #Me Too survivors’ stories, analyzing them from multiple theoretical perspectives including patriarchy, women as a second sex, child sexual abuse, and male-domination specifically in the work-setting. An additional objective of the paper is to explore how Bangladeshi socio-cultural norms deeply rooted in a patriarchal mindset, condone malicious practices that jeopardize women. The findings indicate that even though #Me Too shone only a temporary light in Bangladesh, it nonetheless served to raise awareness of the problem, and focused attention on rethinking and revising both existing law and education.

- Samenvatting
- This book explores the use of Twitter as a communication platform by marginalized groups. It shows how groups such as Afro-Americans, women and transgender people, who were long excluded from elite media spaces, use Twitter hashtags to advocate, mobilize, and communicate. The authors describe how hashtags including #MeToo and #SurvivorPrivilege challenged the conventional understanding of gendered violence. They examine the voices and stories of black feminism enabled by #FastTailedGirls and #SayHerName and explore the use of #GirlsLikeUs, a network of transgender women. The authors also investigate the digital signatures of the “new civil rights movement”, that set the stage for #BlackLivesMatter.

- Samenvatting
- Pastor and rape survivor Ruth Everhart shines a light on the prevalence of sexual abuse and misconduct within Protestant Christian faith communities in the United States. Victims are routinely ignored by fellow Christians who deny their accounts and fail to bring accountability to the perpetrators. All too often, churches have been complicit in protecting abusers, reinforcing patriarchal power dynamics, and creating cultures of secrecy, shame, and silence. .The author discloses stories of how she and others have experienced assault in church settings, highlighting the damage done to individuals, families, and communities. Combined with scriptural narratives like those of Tamar and Bathsheba and the accounts of Jesus' interactions with women. With a call for action to churches to embrace the reckoning of the #MeToo movement before gender equality will be achieved.

As a company, Twitter is failing to respect women’s rights online by inadequately investigating and responding to reports of violence and abuse in a transparent manner.

- The first part of this paper deals with Adorno and sets up the framework of his reworking of the Kantian priority between subject and object. The second section is a detailed examination of the work of Drucilla Cornell, using the example of hate speech to illustrate and critique her position with regard to the subject/object framework. The third section goes futher in exploring the possibility of employing a reworking of Adorno, such as that by Christine Battersby, to rethink hate speech.

- Samenvatting
- The author offers a new look at women's involvement in the mission movement, with a focus on the antebellum era. Most scholars have argued that the emergence of women as a dominant force in American Protestant missions in the late nineteenth century was an outgrowth of nascent feminist activism in the various denominations. This book suggests that the feminization of the later mission movement actually stemmed in large part from images of the 'degraded Oriental woman' that popular evangelical literature had been circulating since the 1790s and that the increasing focus on and involvement of women was supported by male denominational leaders as an important strategy for reaching the world with the Christian gospel. In the late eighteenth through the early nineteenth centuries, popular evangelical literature began circulating descriptions of women of the 'Orient' designed to illustrate the need of those women for the Christian gospel. Such powerful and widely disseminated images demonstrated to young American women their relatively privileged position in society and, throughout the nineteenth century, led many to support the cause of missions with their money and sometimes their lives. A belief in the desperate need of 'Oriental' women for salvation and social uplift was largely responsible for feminizing the American Protestant foreign mission movement
